Celebrating with the Peanuts

Knott's Berry Farm invites visitors to step inside the pages of a Charles M. Schulz comic strip during the annual Peanuts Festival, which runs weekends through March 1, as well as February 10, 14, and 17. The event is uniquely dedicated to celebrating the beloved PEANUTS characters.

As soon as you step inside the gates of the Buena Park theme park (which just so happens to be celebrating its 100th Anniversary this year), you will be immersed in the Peanuts décor. Larger than life comic strip backdrops offer Instagram-worthy picture opportunities. When we entered the park on Media Day, Snoopy was up front welcoming guests.

Throughout the park festive décor sets the stage for a full day of special shows, experiences, themed rides, and more! Fans of the comic strip will recognize the "Kite Eating Trees" strategically placed throughout the various lands. In Camp Snoopy, pose under comic strip sayings well known to the Peanut's characters such as "I Got a Rock," "Sweet Baboo," "Who Says I'm Crabby," and more. New this year is the interactive "Student to Teacher" translator which records normal voices and translates it into indiscernible gibberish that the kids of the strip often hear from adults. This was a cute addition.

In Ghost Town, make sure to visit Pig Pen and his four-legged friends in his "Pig Pen." In Calico Park, various Peanuts characters facilitate fun and games at the Peanuts Cowboy Jamboree throughout the day. This year, for the first time ever... Snoopy's brother Spike has come to Calico to interact with visitors of all ages. His arrival was met with cheers and applause. In the Bird Cage Theatre, attend Peanuts Sketch School to learn how to draw your favorite character. Afterwards, head over to Town Hall to view "Pigskin Peanuts," a special exhibit direct from the Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa. At unscheduled times at random places in the park, characters will show up in vintage cars for energetic dance parties. We caught them around the Charleston Fountain. This "pop-up" was a nice surprise. In addition to Knott's regular live entertainment, several themed shows take place during the day. In Camp Snoopy, "Space Beagle" follows Snoopy's adventure to space when called upon by NASA. This 15-minute show features a song that you will not easily get out of your head.

In Calico Square, two shows take center stage. During the day "Happiness Is" features Charlie Brown, Linus, Snoopy, and Peppermint Patty with a troupe of talented singers and dancers. The upbeat show features a medley of inspiring music. At night, "Woodstock's Music Festival" brings OC's own Jelly of the Month Club's family-friendly (and quite hilarious) songs to the masses.

In Fiesta Village, turn up the volume (in your headphones) at Spike's Discoteca de Silencio. This "Silent Disco" is a crowd favorite. Spike spins three channels of popular music to chose from. Wander by and wonder what everyone is doing... dancing and grooving... to silence! Hop on the Sky Cabin for a "Woodstock's Eye View" of Knott's and Orange County. On clear days, you can see as far as Downtown Los Angeles, and the ocean! Take a trip to Beagle Bonanza on the Grand Sierra Scenic Railroad in Camp Snoopy.

All of this fun and excitement builds up quite an appetite. A specially created menu offers a variety of snacks, entrees, and delicious desserts. A full menu can be found in the photos below.

The Knott's Peanuts Celebration is a ton of fun and a perfect way to celebrate the normally "quiet season" which takes place between the holidays and the upcoming Boysenberry Festival. Being a huge Peanuts fan from an early age, I may be a bit biased... but this "Season of Fun," is one of the best! For more information, visit knotts.com PARK DECOR
