Snow at Knott's Merry Farm 2018

Knott's Merry Farm is back in full swing. The celebration of the holiday season includes park-wide decor, numerous shows, specialty foods, and a crafts village.

The season kicked off on Friday, November 16 after an abbreviated passholder preview the evening before. To get things started, Knott's management invited hundreds of local children from area Boys and Girls Clubs to light the tree in Calico Square. After a medley of tunes from carolers on the porch of the Calico Saloons, Santa himself arrived by stream train and joined Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang to illuminate Ghost Town.

During Knott's Merry Farm, Ghost Town comes alive with warmth and merriment. A variety of shows including a Christmas version of the Calico Saloon Show entertain guests by day. theFUNnelCakeBlog's favorite “A Christmas Carol” and “The Gift of the Magi” alternate show times throughout the day in the historic Bird Cage Theatre. No holiday season is complete without seeing these beloved tales performed by Knott's energetic and talented crew of performers. This tradition has been around for decades at the park, and will hopefully stay around for years to come.

The streets of Ghost Town are lined with artisans selling gifts such as crocheted bows and hats, soaps, wooden decorations, and jewelry. Gifts for every member of the family can be found. On select days, entrance to the crafts village is free and park admission is not necessary.

Visit Jolly Old St. Nick in Santa's Christmas Cabin. Snap a photo and enjoy items such as chocolate dipped cheesecake, tamales, and turkey dinner bites (yum)! Hot chocolate is available for the kids, while adults can enjoy spiced wine, and a variety of craft beers. Across the way, decorate cookies in Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen.

At night, Ghost Town comes alive with thousands of white lights. Snowfall takes place throughout the evening. The feeling is is nothing but magical. Note... the closing snow is set to a different soundtrack than the earlier shows... so stick around!

On the Calico Mine Stage, Snoopy and his pals present “It’s the Merriest Christmas Show Ever, Charlie Brown.” The 30-minute show is fun for the entire family.

The holiday spirit is not only alive in Ghost Town, but through the entire park. The Boardwalk has been redecorated for the holidays. We loved the giant sized lights on top of Coasters drive-in, and the frozen fountain glistening in Charleston Circe. The LED lights on HangTime have been programmed to holiday music. The cheer continues throughout Fiesta Village and Camp Snoopy.

The star of Merry Farm is the ice show in the Charles M. Schulz Theatre. “Merry Christmas, Snoopy” is a highlight of the season (select days). Management should really promote this more, as the experience rivals that of entertainment offerings at Disneyland. Guests know the drill, as they line up early to get the perfect seat inside the 2,100-seat auditorium. Upbeat and emotional vignettes celebrate the holidays. There is a lot of competition for holiday celebrations at local theme parks, but Knott's manages to keep the hometown, cozy, warm feel while entertaining the masses. There is nothing like Christmastime at Knott's Merry Farm!
