A Land That is Super and Silly at Universal

In a once under-utilized corner of the park, the creative team at Universal Studios Hollywood has built a fun and interactive themed area straight out the movie “Despicable Me.” “Super Silly Fun Land,” is described by Universal as “an immersive carnival setting.” You will call it “a lot of fun!”

“Super Silly Fun Land” is adjacent to the new “Minion Mayhem” simulator ride and in the spot of what was once the rather barren “Coke Soak” area. You and your family will find a variety of games, a rather large themed play area with water features and a mechanically simple, yet well themed flat ride called “Silly Swirly.” Hop on board and enjoy the view from above the crowds.

Guests of all ages will enjoy the ride. The little ones will enjoy the play area and adults will appreciate all of the details put into the area. Even the trash cans were specially designed. If things look a bit familiar, that’s because you saw the concept on screen when Gru takes the girls to a seaside resort in the first feature film.

"’Super Silly Fun Land' bring(s) our movies to life, with all of the gorgeous artistry, humor and the heart – and of course the thrills – that the team at Universal Studios are known for," said Chris Meledandri, founder and CEO of Illumination Entertainment. “We've built out an immersive environment with many attractions. Who wouldn't want to spend a day as a Minion?"

When in Hollywood, Universal Studios offers a close-up look at the movie industry. “Super Silly Fun Land” puts you right in the middle of the Minion action. Next Week: More theme park fun!
