Fright Fest 2018 Opening Night

Opening moment at Fright Fest
This past weekend, Fright Fest at Six Flags Magic Mountain kicked off another season of thrills and chills. Unlike other Southern California theme park haunts, Fright Fest is not a separately ticketed event. If you have a Six Flags Season Pass, Membership, or one-day admission ticket, the scares begin at 7 p,m., without the park closing and reopening. Scare zones, live entertainment, and the eerie ambiance can be enjoyed at your leisure. If you would like to experience the six haunted mazes, simply purchase an affordable wristband that allows you to enjoy unlimited trips through each that night. With scare zones and mazes scattered throughout the park, there is nowhere to hide!
This year, the creative team has unleashed three new walkthrough maze experiences. Two are original creations, and one is based on the upcoming film release "Hell Fest." In CONDEMNED - FOREVER DAMNED (located backstage across from Full Throttle), attend an open house at the recently abandoned home of a habitual collector of all things creepy.
Up on Exile HIll (near Ninja), dare to enter SEWER OF SOULS, a foul-smelling wretched wasteland, sure to raise a few hairs…luring you in and then leaving you to fend for yourself.
Near CONDEMNED, experience the maze from the new movie HELL FEST, where all of your screams come true... Will you make it out alive?

Characters from Hell Fest
While Hell Fest looks oddly familiar to those that have visited Vault 666 in years past, the other two new mazes hit it out of the park. Sewer of Souls utilizes a multitude of special effects and creative set pieces to set the mood. If you hold a VIP ticket, there is a special entrance and experience waiting for you! In true haunted house fashion, Condemned - Forever Damned is classic Halloween. Being ushered "between the walls" inside the house was a memorable experience not found in competing events. Returning mazes include RED'S REVENGE, one of my favorite current mazes in So Cal, which is a twisted telling of the classic fairy tale. AFTERMATH 2 is massive in size and scale. Back for another year is WILLOUGHBY'S RESURRECTED, featuring the iconic family that Magic Mountain guests have come to see year after year. This cast of characters is top notch and OWN their roles. Please, do not ever get rid of them!
In terms of Scare Zones, two new locations tempt you to walk through. Eerie whispers, long windy howls and mysterious gory creatures lurk among us in THE SHADOWS. Across from Crazanity, step into a wicked haven for cauldrons, broomsticks, spells and magic in the WITCHES LAIR. Other Scare Zones include: DEMON’S DOOR - Welcome to HELL...be prepared for your mind and body to be completely taken over by the evil spirits that await you. TERRORTORY TWISTED - Steam-spewing mechanical beasts relentlessly hunt down their victims. CITY UNDER SIEGE - The unruly comic-like characters run rampart in the streets of DC UNIVERSE. EXILE HILL -The dead have risen and are looking for new souls to take on this dark and sinister hill. NIGHTMARES: A TWISTED FANTASY -This evil nightmare has never been so edgy as your favorite bedtime stories take on a new and twisted tale.
Each of these scare zones offer a different experience, and each is unique in the marketplace and utilize their surroundings to the max.
Rounding out your evening is live entertainment of the Full Throttle stage, which features a band, dancers, a DJ, and more! On select dates, a comedic hypnotist entertains the crowds in the Golden Bear Theatre.
While Fright Fest doesn't always receive the attention its neighbors in Universal City and Buena Park do, it is a fun event that is constantly evolving with a dedicated base of fans. Make sure to add Fright Fest to your plans this Halloween season. While there, stop in and have dinner at the Full Throttle Sport Bar. A personal favorite is the Slap Shot turkey sandwich with fries and chipotle ketchup!
Fright Fest runs select nights through October 28, 2018. More info, visit...
