More New Attractions to Entertain Visitors
Last month Southern California theme parks welcomed summer with the opening of numerous new attractions. Knott’s Berry Farm opened their first 4-D dark ride called “Voyage to the Iron Reef.” Magic Mountain re-opened their classic wooden coaster with a modern, steel-track twist. “Twisted Colossus” opened to huge crowds and hordes of coaster enthusiasts. Disneyland stayed open 24 hours to kick off a celebration in honor of the park’s 60th Diamond Anniversary. But, even more has happened in the past few weeks! A trip to Disneyland is not complete without watching a parade on Main Street. The new nighttime “Paint the Night” parade dazzles with over 1.5 million lights and features eight floats and dozens of performers. The upbeat soundtrack featuring Owl City’s “When Can I See You Again” will have you dancing in your carefully picked out spot on the sidewalk. Get there early; the parade is extremely popular and prime viewing spots disappear early! Down the street from Disneyland and just south of Knott’s Berry Farm is an underrated, yet quite charming little theme park. Adventure City is nowhere near the size of its famous neighbors, but still manages to entertain families with small children. This “locals” park is worth a half-day visit when in the area. A new roller coaster has been added to the park this summer and delivers a unique experience that cannot be found anywhere else in the market. “Rewind Racers” features 600 feet of track with a top speed of 25 mph, perfect for the younger members of the family. But, it is the only forward and back family coaster in North America, providing a thrilling ride for all ages. The “Fast & Furious” series of films have generated billions of dollars in box office receipts worldwide, so it should come as no surprise that Universal Studios would build an attraction based on the popular franchise. In late June, the theme park added a 4-D, full sensory experience to the world famous back lot Studio Tour. The “Fast & Furious Supercharged” makes you feel like you are a part of the movie. Groundbreaking special effects wowed opening day guests and will prove to be the most popular feature on the 45-minute tram ride. For photos and updates on all of these attractions, visit:
